About Grund District, Luxembourg City

Grund is a low-lying district of Luxembourg City beside the Alzette River. The old houses sit below steep cliffs and the fortified upper town, creating a striking difference in height within a small area. Paths and bridges connect the riverbanks with the city above. Warm evening light falls across the houses and the valley in this photograph. The fortifications above Grund were so strong that Luxembourg was nicknamed the "Gibraltar of the North".

Puzzle tip: sort the illuminated roofs from the shaded valley before filling in the sky.
