About Kangaroo and Joey, Maria Island

This mother kangaroo, with her joey peeking out of her pouch, was photographed on Maria Island, a national park off the east coast of Tasmania where no cars are allowed. A newborn kangaroo is only about the size of a bean; it crawls into its mother's pouch and stays there for months while it grows. Kangaroos can travel fast by hopping on their strong back legs, using their tail for balance.

Puzzle tip: the kangaroo is the centre; sort the golden grass and the blue sky next.
