About Karfiguela Waterfalls near Banfora

The Karfiguela Waterfalls, also called the Banfora Cascades, lie in the southwest of Burkina Faso, one of the greenest parts of a country that is mostly dry savanna. Here the Comoé River tumbles in many steps over ledges of sandstone, surrounded by mango trees and thick bushes. The nearby town of Banfora is known for its sugar cane fields and for Lake Tengrela, where hippos live. This photo shows the cascades in the rainy season, when the river is brown and full.

Puzzle tip: start with the white cascades across the middle, then the rock ledges and the trees above, and the brown water last.
