About Keren from Above

Keren, Eritrea's second largest town, lies in a green valley surrounded by mountains, about 90 kilometres northwest of Asmara. It is known for its mild climate, its fruit gardens of oranges and bananas, and its many peoples, including the Bilen, Tigre and Tigrinya. In 1941 the mountains around it saw a fierce battle between British and Italian forces. Above the town stand an old Egyptian fort and a tiny shrine built inside a baobab tree. This aerial photo shows the town's roofs, mosques and streets with the mountains beyond.

Puzzle tip: start with the white mosque and the buildings in front, then the roofs of the town, and the mountains and the sky last.
