About Mont-Saint-Michel and Its Ramparts

The abbey of Mont-Saint-Michel was built over several centuries, and its Gothic part from the thirteenth century, a stack of halls and cloisters on the north side, is known as La Merveille, the Marvel. Below it, a small village climbs the rock along a single main street, protected by ramparts built during the Hundred Years' War, when the island was never taken by the English. The golden statue of Saint Michael on top of the spire was added in 1897. Here the whole island, from the walls to the spire, fills a clear blue sky.

Puzzle tip: start with the walls and towers at the bottom, then the houses and the abbey, and finish with the blue sky.
