About Turaida Castle above the Gauja Valley

Turaida Castle rises above the Gauja River valley near Sigulda. The red-brick fortress was founded in the thirteenth century and later fell into ruin before restoration. Today the castle and surrounding reserve preserve stories of medieval Livonia and offer views over forests and the river. From above, its brick tower stands out amid a wide canopy of green trees. A legend tells of the Rose of Turaida, a young woman whose grave lies under an old linden tree near the castle.

Puzzle tip: find the red tower first and sort the forest by lighter and darker patches.
