About Petrovaradin Fortress, Novi Sad

Petrovaradin Fortress stands on a hill above the Danube opposite central Novi Sad. Its present form was developed mainly under Habsburg rule and includes walls, gates and underground passages. The fortress is a well-known landmark of the city and offers views across the river. Warm light falls on the fortification and the riverbank in this photograph. Its clock tower has reversed hands: the small hand shows the minutes and the large one the hours, so boatmen on the Danube could read the time from afar.

Puzzle tip: find the fortress edges and river line before sorting the sunlit walls.
