About Pumpkins and Gourds in Ludwigsburg

Ludwigsburg, a town just north of Stuttgart, grew up around one of the largest Baroque palaces in Germany, built between 1704 and 1733 for Duke Eberhard Ludwig of Württemberg. Every autumn the palace gardens, called Blooming Baroque, host what is billed as the world's largest pumpkin festival. This picture from Ludwigsburg shows a heap of pumpkins and gourds in many shapes: smooth and warty, round and long, orange, white, green and grey-blue. Ornamental gourds are grown for their looks and are not eaten.

Puzzle tip: start with the big grey-blue pumpkin, then sort the rest by colour and by smooth or warty skin.
