The Brandenburg Gate, completed in 1791, stood right beside the Berlin Wall and became a symbol of the reunited city after the wall fell in 1989. Not far away, the Reichstag, home of the German parliament, is crowned by a glass dome that visitors can climb to look down into the debating chamber.
Along the River Spree you can piece together Berlin Cathedral beside the Lustgarten park and the TV Tower, which rises 368 metres over Alexanderplatz and is the tallest structure in Germany.
