About Pyramids of Meroë in the Desert

Sudan has more pyramids than Egypt, and the largest group stands at Meroë, about 200 kilometres north of Khartoum. Meroë was the capital of the Kingdom of Kush, whose kings and queens ruled the middle Nile for nearly a thousand years and were buried here under small, steep pyramids between about 300 BC and AD 350. More than 200 pyramids stand in three cemeteries on the sandy ridges. The site is a UNESCO World Heritage site. This photo shows a row of pyramids rising from the desert under a pale sky.

Puzzle tip: start with the dark pyramids on the ridge, then the golden sand in front, and the pale sky last.
