About Red Rocks of Jeti-Ögüz

Jeti-Ögüz, near the south-east shore of Lake Issyk-Kul, is famous for its cliffs of red sandstone that rise above green meadows and spruce forests. The name means "Seven Bulls" in Kyrgyz, after a line of rocks that, according to legend, are seven bulls turned to stone. Another rock nearby, split down the middle, is known as the Broken Heart. A spa with hot springs has stood in the valley since the Soviet era, and in summer herders bring their horses and sheep to the pastures higher up.

Puzzle tip: the red rocks against the green slopes are easy to group; the sky and the shadows come last.
