About Rhumsiki and Kapsiki Peak, Mandara Mountains

Rhumsiki is a village in the Mandara Mountains, in the Far North Region of Cameroon close to the border with Nigeria. Around it rise strange rock towers such as Kapsiki Peak, the hard cores of old volcanoes whose softer slopes have worn away over millions of years. The village belongs to the Kapsiki people, who build small round houses of stone and clay with thatched roofs. This photo was taken just after sunrise and shows the peak above green fields and trees.

Puzzle tip: start with the dark rock towers against the sky, then the green fields and trees, and the soft sky last.
