About Ruins of Nan Madol, Pohnpei

Nan Madol is a ruined city of stone built on nearly a hundred small artificial islands in a lagoon off the east coast of Pohnpei. It was the seat of the Saudeleur dynasty, which ruled the island for several centuries until about the 1600s. Its walls are made of long, six-sided columns of dark basalt, laid crosswise in layers like a log cabin, and some blocks weigh several tonnes. Nobody knows exactly how they were moved here. Because of its canals, Nan Madol is sometimes called the Venice of the Pacific, and it is a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: build the stone wall layer by layer from its long dark blocks; the reflections in the water come last.
