About Shore of Lake Khövsgöl

Lake Khövsgöl lies in the far north of Mongolia, close to the border with Russia, at about 1,650 metres above sea level. It is about 136 kilometres long and up to 262 metres deep, and it holds about 70 per cent of Mongolia's fresh water. Mongolians call it the "younger sister" of Lake Baikal, which lies not far to the north-east. The water is so clear that the bottom can be seen several metres down. In winter the lake freezes so thick that trucks once crossed the ice.

Puzzle tip: the pebbles on the shore have the most detail; the water and the distant hills are best sorted by their shades of blue.
