About Southern Lights over the Hills of Canterbury, New Zealand

A glowing band of pink and green aurora australis, the southern lights, spreads over the hills of Canterbury on New Zealand's South Island. The southern lights are the same as the northern lights but circle the South Pole, so they are best seen from places far to the south, such as the South Island, Tasmania and Antarctica. The Māori of the South Island call them Tahunui-a-Rangi, the great glowing of the sky. They are most often seen in winter, from May to August.

Puzzle tip: the hills and the scrub at the bottom are the easiest parts; the pink sky is best sorted from pale to deep.
