About Stone Houses of Gjirokastër

Gjirokastër is a hillside town in southern Albania known for its stone-roofed Ottoman houses. Many of its streets are paved with stone, and the old town is protected as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. The fortified houses reflect the town’s long history as a regional trading centre. The photograph shows tightly packed roofs descending the slope, with the valley opening beyond the houses. Albania's best-known writer, Ismail Kadare, was born here and described the town in his novel Chronicle in Stone.

Puzzle tip: match the grey roof slabs first, then use the valley to separate the upper pieces.
