About Ta' Pinu Basilica, Gozo

The Basilica of Ta' Pinu stands alone in open country near the village of Għarb on the island of Gozo. In 1883 a local woman, Karmni Grima, said she heard the voice of the Virgin Mary in the small chapel that stood here, and the place soon became a pilgrimage site. The present church, built of local limestone in a Romanesque style, was completed in 1931, and the old chapel was kept inside it. Pope John Paul II prayed here in 1990. The photo shows the church and its tall bell tower under a bright blue sky.

Puzzle tip: start with the bell tower against the sky, then fill the stone front and the open ground around it.
