About The Slope of the Dune du Pilat

The Dune du Pilat, on the Atlantic coast south-west of Bordeaux, is the tallest sand dune in Europe, rising about a hundred metres above the sea and stretching almost three kilometres along the shore. The wind keeps pushing it inland by a few metres a year, slowly burying the edge of the pine forest behind it. From its crest visitors see the open ocean on one side and an endless green forest on the other. In this photo the smooth slope of golden sand meets the dark green pines below.

Puzzle tip: start with the edge of the dune where sand meets trees, then the green forest, and finish with the smooth golden sand.
