About The Village of Tignes in Winter

Tignes is a high ski resort in the Tarentaise valley of the French Alps, with its main village at about 2,100 metres. The old village of Tignes lay lower in the valley, but in 1952 it was flooded by the lake of the new Chevril dam, which supplies electricity; its people moved, and a new resort grew higher up. Today Tignes and neighbouring Val d'Isère share one of the largest ski areas in the Alps, and the Grande Motte glacier above it has sometimes allowed skiing even in summer. In this photo chalets sit at the foot of a snowy mountain under grey clouds.

Puzzle tip: start with the chalets at the bottom, then the rocky mountain slopes, and finish with the snow and the grey clouds.
