About The Water Parterre and the Palace of Versailles

On the garden side of Versailles, directly in front of the palace's long west front, lie two large rectangular pools known as the Water Parterre. They act as mirrors for the façade and the sky, and around their edges sit bronze statues cast in the 1690s that represent the great rivers of France, each shown as a reclining figure with children. Behind them, the Hall of Mirrors runs along the first floor of the central building. In this photo one of the river statues sits in the foreground while the golden façade is reflected in the water.

Puzzle tip: start with the bronze statue in the corner, then the palace and its reflection, and finish with the blue sky and clouds.
