About The Witch House in Autumn, Salem

The Witch House stands on Essex Street in Salem, Massachusetts. It was the home of Jonathan Corwin, a magistrate involved in the witchcraft trials of 1692. Corwin bought the house in 1675, and his family kept it until the nineteenth century. Today it is a museum where visitors can learn about the house, seventeenth-century life and the trials. In this autumn photograph, pumpkins and colourful foliage surround the dark wooden building. Its steep roof and small windows offer a glimpse of Salem’s colonial architecture.

Puzzle tip: start with the dark roof and windows, then use the orange pumpkins and red foliage to place the foreground.
