About Wild Burros in Oatman, Arizona

Oatman was a busy gold-mining town in the early 1900s, high in the Black Mountains of western Arizona. When the mines closed, the miners set their donkeys free, and today the burros’ descendants wander the main street, where visitors feed them carrots. To reach the town, Route 66 climbs over the steep Sitgreaves Pass, one of the most winding sections of the whole road.

Puzzle tip: the wooden buildings are the key; the burros and the mountains come next.
