About Windmills of Saaremaa

Saaremaa is an island in western Estonia where traditional wooden windmills became part of the rural landscape. They once helped farms grind grain using winds from the Baltic Sea. Preserved groups of mills show a style of building that differs from the stone towns on the mainland. The picture separates the dark timber silhouettes from the open countryside and sky. At Angla, five windmills still stand together on a low hill, the largest group left on the island.

Puzzle tip: fit each windmill’s blades first, then connect them to the darker bodies.
