The Antarctic Peninsula is the long, mountainous arm of Antarctica that points north towards the tip of South America, across the stormy Drake Passage. It is the mildest and most visited part of the continent, with steep peaks, glaciers that run down into the sea and channels full of drifting icebergs. Our puzzles here also include the nearby islands, such as Elephant Island and Two Hummock Island.

In summer, from November to March, the peninsula comes alive. Gentoo and chinstrap penguins nest on every patch of bare rock, seals rest on the ice and humpback whales feed on krill in the calm bays. Many countries run research stations along its coast.
