About Great Blue Hole, Belize

The Great Blue Hole is a round sinkhole in the sea about 300 metres across and 125 metres deep, in Lighthouse Reef about 70 kilometres off the coast of Belize. It formed as a cave during the ice ages, when the sea was much lower, and flooded when the ice melted. The French explorer Jacques Cousteau made it famous in the 1970s, and it is part of the Belize Barrier Reef, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: the dark blue circle is the centre; the lighter reef around it needs patience.
