About Citadelle Laferrière, Haiti

After Haiti won its independence from France in 1804, the revolutionary leader Henri Christophe built this huge fortress on top of a mountain about 900 metres high in the north of the country, to defend it against any return of the French. Thousands of workers laboured on it for some 15 years. It is the largest fortress in the Americas and, with the nearby Sans-Souci Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

Puzzle tip: the grey walls of the fortress are the centre; the green mountains and the sky come next.
