About Ponte Vecchio, Florence

The Ponte Vecchio, the Old Bridge, has crossed the River Arno in Florence since 1345. It is lined with small shops that hang out over the water; butchers once worked here, but in 1593 the Medici rulers replaced them with goldsmiths and jewellers, whose shops remain today. Above them runs the Vasari Corridor, a private passage that let the Medici walk between their palaces unseen.

Puzzle tip: the colourful little shops on the bridge are the key; the river and its reflections follow.
