About Mount Etna above the Harbour of Catania

Mount Etna, on the east coast of Sicily, is one of the most active volcanoes in the world, and at about 3,300 metres it is the highest mountain in Italy south of the Alps. Its height changes with its eruptions. The city of Catania lies at its foot and has been damaged by its lava more than once, most famously in 1669, when a lava flow reached the sea and destroyed part of the town. Many buildings in Catania's old town are built of the dark grey lava stone of the volcano.

Puzzle tip: the boats and the bright buildings of the harbour are easy to place; the snowy volcano and the sky come last.
