About Lakeside Village on Lake Como

Lake Como, in Lombardy in northern Italy, is about 46 kilometres long and surrounded by steep green mountains. Small villages of pastel houses line its shores, and for centuries the lake was the main road between them, travelled by fishing boats and later by steamers. Since Roman times wealthy families have built summer villas here: the writer Pliny the Younger, who was born in the town of Como, owned two. Today ferries still connect the villages, and boats cross the water in every direction.

Puzzle tip: the coloured houses on the hillside are the easiest part; the dark green slopes and the moving water need care.
