In Rome you can build the Colosseum, opened in AD 80 for up to 50,000 spectators, the Pantheon with its great open dome, the Roman Forum and the Trevi Fountain, where visitors throw a coin to be sure of returning. Venice, built on more than a hundred small islands, appears through the Rialto Bridge, gondolas on the Grand Canal and St Mark's Square.
Florence, the cradle of the Renaissance, offers its cathedral dome, the Ponte Vecchio and Michelangelo's David. Milan's marble cathedral took almost six centuries to finish, and Palermo shows the mix of Arab, Norman and Byzantine art that makes Sicily unique.
