About Hill Inlet and Whitehaven Beach, Whitsundays

At Hill Inlet, on Whitsunday Island, the tide moves the white sand and the turquoise water into ever-changing swirls. Just beside it lies Whitehaven Beach, about seven kilometres of sand that is almost pure silica, so fine and white that it stays cool underfoot even on hot days. The island is a national park with no roads or houses, reached only by boat or seaplane.

Puzzle tip: the white swirls of sand are the key; the green hills and the deep blue sea come next.
