About Northern Lights over Tipis, Yellowknife

Glowing tipis stand under the northern lights near Yellowknife, the capital of Canada's Northwest Territories, on the shore of Great Slave Lake. Yellowknife lies right under the auroral oval, the ring around the North Pole where auroras are most frequent, and its flat land and dry, clear winters make it one of the world's best places to see them. The city began as a gold-mining town in the 1930s and is named after the copper knives once made by the local Dene people.

Puzzle tip: the lit tipis are the easiest pieces; the green band of aurora and the dark trees come next.
