About Wellington Harbour and City

Wellington sits around a sheltered harbour at the southern end of New Zealand’s North Island. It became the country’s capital in 1865, and its waterfront grew as a centre of shipping and trade. Today the harbour is crossed by ferries, while the city centre climbs into the green hills around the shore. This view looks across boats and waterside buildings towards those hills. The white roofs, blue water and many small buildings give the image several clear areas to work through as a puzzle.

Puzzle tip: match the waterfront buildings and boats first, then use the hill line to separate the city from the sky.
