About Shah-i-Zinda Mausoleums, Samarkand

Shah-i-Zinda is a lane of mausoleums in Samarkand, built and decorated over several centuries. Its blue and turquoise tiles cover portals, domes and walls with geometric and floral patterns. The complex lies near the ancient city of Afrasiyab and remains an important place of remembrance and pilgrimage. This photograph shows the tiled buildings standing close together, with many small differences in colour and ornament. While assembling the puzzle, follow the edges of the portals before sorting the repeated blue details.

Puzzle tip: build the large portals first, then separate the blue tiles by their patterns.
