About Emerald Lake, Rocky Mountain National Park

Emerald Lake lies in a rocky basin below Hallett Peak and Flattop Mountain in Rocky Mountain National Park. A trail of about 3 kilometres climbs to it from Bear Lake, passing Nymph Lake and Dream Lake on the way, and is one of the most popular walks in the park. The lake sits at about 3,000 metres, so snow can linger on its shores into early summer. Around it grow subalpine firs and Engelmann spruces. This photo shows the dark lake below steep peaks and bright white clouds.

Puzzle tip: start with the white clouds and the edges of the peaks, then sort the dark rock, trees and water.
