About Gorge of Athabasca Falls

Below Athabasca Falls, the river races through a deep, twisting gorge with walls polished smooth by water and stones. Potholes, round hollows drilled by swirling rocks, can be seen in the canyon walls. Bridges and viewing platforms cross the gorge so that visitors can look straight down into the spray, and the sound of the water can be heard from the parking area. The best flow comes in early summer, when snow is melting in the mountains. This photo looks along the gorge, with the falls framed by rock and evergreen forest.

Puzzle tip: build the white water first, then the dark walls of the gorge, and the forest and sky last.
