About Vermilion Lakes at Sunrise, Banff

The Vermilion Lakes are a chain of shallow lakes and wetlands just west of the town of Banff, at the foot of Mount Rundle. Warm springs keep part of the water open even in winter, which attracts birds, beavers, muskrats and elk. A quiet road along the shore is one of the most popular places in the park to photograph the sunrise, when the first light colours the mountain and the clouds. In this photo Mount Rundle glows above the calm water, doubled in its reflection.

Puzzle tip: start with the mountain and its reflection, then the colourful clouds, and the reeds and shore last.
