About The Fishing Village of Nusfjord, Lofoten

Nusfjord is one of the oldest and best preserved fishing villages in Norway, hidden in a narrow bay on the island of Flakstadøya in Lofoten. Its red and yellow wooden houses, warehouses and fishermen's cabins date mostly from the nineteenth century, and the whole village is protected as a heritage site. In the past hundreds of fishermen crowded in here every winter for the cod season. Today visitors can see the old cod-liver-oil factory, the general store and the sawmill. In this photo the colourful houses cluster around the harbour below a steep, dark mountain.

Puzzle tip: start with the yellow and red houses, then the water of the harbour, and finish with the dark mountain.
