About Rugged Peaks of Kananaskis

The mountains of Kananaskis are part of the Front Ranges of the Rockies, made of grey limestone layers that were pushed up and tilted as one slab of rock slid over another. Their sharp ridges and steep scree slopes make the area popular with scramblers and climbers. Grizzly bears, cougars, moose and bighorn sheep all live here, and parts of the valleys are closed in spring to protect wildlife. In this photo jagged grey peaks rise above green forest and a quiet lake.

Puzzle tip: start with the jagged grey peaks, then the green forest, and finish with the lake.
