About Ancient Walls of Qal’at al-Bahrain

Around the fort of Qal'at al-Bahrain, archaeologists have uncovered walls, streets and buildings from more than four thousand years of history. Danish teams began digging here in 1954 and found the remains of Dilmun, whose merchants traded copper, pearls and dates between Mesopotamia and the Indus Valley. Old texts from Mesopotamia describe Dilmun as a pure land where the sun rises. In this view, low stone walls of the excavated town stretch across the site, with the fort rising behind them.

Puzzle tip: the stone walls in front have the most detail; the pale sky and the flat ground go together at the end.
