About Snowy Peaks of Ak-Sai, Ala-Archa National Park

The Ak-Sai valley lies in Ala-Archa National Park, only about 40 kilometres south of Bishkek, the capital of Kyrgyzstan. At its head, the Ak-Sai glacier flows down between peaks of more than 4,000 metres of the Kyrgyz Range, part of the Tian Shan. A mountain hut at the foot of the glacier is a base for climbers heading to peaks such as Korona, whose six summits look like the points of a crown. The park is named after the archa, a juniper that grows on its lower slopes.

Puzzle tip: the dark rock ridges give the snow its shape, so build them first; the sky is the last part.
