About Beach and Rocky Shore of Socotra

Socotra lies in the Arabian Sea about 380 kilometres south of the Arabian Peninsula, off the Horn of Africa. The island has been cut off from the mainland for millions of years, so many of its plants and animals evolved into species found nowhere else. Its coasts have long white beaches, sand dunes piled against the mountains and clear water where turtles nest. From June to September the summer monsoon brings strong winds and high seas, which used to cut the island off from the outside world for months.

Puzzle tip: the line of the shore is the best start; the water and the rocky hills are easier to sort by colour.
