About Sea Caves on the Coast of Paphos

North of Paphos, near the village of Peyia, the waves have carved the pale limestone coast into caves, arches and small stacks. The rock is soft and full of fossils, and the sea wears it away a little more each winter, so the shapes slowly change. On calm days the water below is clear enough to see the seabed, and swimmers and snorkellers explore the caves from the sea. This coast is also one of the places in Cyprus where green and loggerhead turtles come ashore to lay their eggs. In this photo blue waves wash around white rock arches under a sky of soft clouds.

Puzzle tip: start with the white rock arches and their dark openings; the blue water and the clouds come next.
