About Ramparts of Cape Coast Castle above the Beach

Cape Coast Castle was first built by Swedish traders in 1653 and later rebuilt by the British, who made it the seat of their government on the Gold Coast until 1877. For more than a century it was one of the largest centres of the Atlantic slave trade: enslaved Africans were held in its dark dungeons before passing through the "Door of No Return" to the ships. Today the castle is a museum and, with other forts along the coast, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. In this photo old cannons point out to sea from its white walls, above a long beach.

Puzzle tip: the white walls and black cannons make clear shapes; the beach and the busy sky come after.
