About Ton Sai Village from Above, Ko Phi Phi Don

Ton Sai Village stands on a low, narrow strip of sand that joins the two hilly halves of Ko Phi Phi Don. Bays lie on both sides of it, so the village has water to the north and to the south. There are no cars on the island; people walk, cycle or travel by boat. In December 2004 the Indian Ocean tsunami swept across this strip and destroyed much of the village, which was rebuilt in the following years. The aerial photo shows rooftops among palms, boats in the bay and the forested hills beyond.

Puzzle tip: start with the wooded hills, then follow the line of the shore to join the rooftops and the turquoise bay.
