Thailand, sometimes called the land of smiles, is known for its golden temples, busy markets and tropical beaches. It is the only country in Southeast Asia that was never colonised by a European power. Our Thailand puzzles show temples old and new, a cave shrine and a floating market.

Wat Arun, Bangkok
In Bangkok, Wat Arun, the Temple of Dawn, rises beside the Chao Phraya River, its tall central tower decorated with pieces of coloured porcelain. North of the city lie the ruins of Ayutthaya, the Thai capital from 1351 until it was destroyed in 1767, where headless Buddha statues and brick towers stand among the trees.
Across the country, golden temple spires glitter in the sun, a reclining Buddha rests in the shadow of a cave, and at floating markets traders sell fruit and food from small wooden boats.
