About Floating Village of Ko Panyi, Phang Nga Bay

Ko Panyi is a fishing village built on stilts over the water beside a huge limestone rock in Phang Nga Bay. It was founded by Muslim fishing families who settled here in the eighteenth century, and today about two thousand people live in its houses, shops and mosque linked by wooden walkways. Because there was no flat land, local boys built their own floating football pitch from planks in 1986, and the village team became well known. From above, the photo shows the close-packed roofs spread out on the water at the foot of the rock.

Puzzle tip: start with the big rock and its greenery, then assemble the patchwork of roofs and the walkways at the water's edge.
