About Het Steen Castle on the Scheldt, Antwerp

Het Steen, 'the Stone', is the oldest building in Antwerp, a small medieval fortress on the bank of the Scheldt. It was built in the early thirteenth century as part of the city's defences and later served as a prison for several hundred years, until 1823. Much of the old town around it was cleared in the nineteenth century to straighten the river quays, so the castle now stands almost alone. At its gate is a statue of Lange Wapper, a mischievous giant from Antwerp folklore. The photo shows its grey stone towers under a bright blue sky.

Puzzle tip: start with the pointed roofs and towers, then sort the grey stone walls by their light and shade.
