About Praia Jalé, São Tomé

Praia Jalé lies near the southern tip of São Tomé, at the end of a road through the forest. It is one of the most important beaches on the island for sea turtles: from about November to February, green, leatherback, hawksbill and olive ridley turtles come ashore at night to lay their eggs, watched over by local guides. A small eco-lodge supports their protection. This photo shows the wide sandy beach framed by leaning coconut palms, with a green headland in the distance.

Puzzle tip: start with the palm trunks and their leaves, then the sand and the headland, and the sea and the sky last.
