About Royal Pyramids of Nuri

Nuri, across the Nile from Jebel Barkal in northern Sudan, is the burial ground of more than 20 Kushite kings and over 50 queens and princes. Its largest pyramid belonged to King Taharqa, who ruled both Kush and Egypt as a pharaoh in the 7th century BC and is mentioned in the Bible. The pyramids are built of local sandstone, and wind and time have worn them into rounded, crumbling shapes. This photo shows a man walking among the ancient pyramids on the sand.

Puzzle tip: start with the pyramids and their worn edges, then the man on the sand, and the sky last.
